Quest & Silkie keep it gully. Am I the only one who’s uncomfortable with the fact that Dubstep’s public face is so…white while so many of it’s innovators are black? Not to simplify things along racial lines - Skream, Kode9, Plastician, N-Type, Distance, Breakage, Burial are all prime contributors to the genre, but those producers had a significant investment in black music and culture. The generation that blew up seems to mostly be metal-head suburbanites who crossed over to raving. It’s the great rock & roll swindle all over again.

  1. respectthegrind said: interesting…i never actually knew that Kode9, Distance, N-Type, or Plasitician were white because i don’t look at pictures of people who make music. and ya, the only non-white guy doing dubstep in SoCal is 12th Planet, i believe…explore more plz
