The interesting thing about Trap, at least in Montreal, is how it’s unifying disparate factions of Bass music back around a common sound again. A few months ago the Hipster kids were all playing bass-heavy House records and post-Garage bits and the working class ravers were all into heavy Dubstep but Trap is essentially bridging the gap: it’s funky enough for the cool kids but aggressive and street enough for the bros. Not that everyone’s partying under one roof but if different crowds are partying to the same records, that’s when things get interesting.
